Koinonia – The Greek phonetic pronunciation is ‘ key-na-nia’ – Here in Houston it’s pronounced ‘coin-no-nia’ J
Answer: Koinonia is a Greek word that occurs 20 times in the Bible. Koinonia’s primary meaning is “fellowship, sharing in common, communion.” The first occurrence of koinonia is Acts 2:42, “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Christian fellowship is a key aspect of the Christian life. Believers in Christ are to come together in love, faith, and encouragement. That is the essence of koinonia.
The mission of Koinonia and the Koinonia MVP Volunteer Team, is to serve the needs and develop the spiritual maturity of the single adult members of Lakewood Church, thirty-five years and older, through sound Biblical instruction that encourages and guides, engaging activities that stimulate godly fellowship and exciting opportunities to serve our Lord, Jesus Christ, by serving others.
I can testify personally that my life has been greatly impacted by all the people of Koinonia. I have discovered my plan and purpose that God divinely created just for me. The joy of that discovery is that it came through my relationships with other “Christians”, without emphasis on singleness, but emphasis on “Wholeness”. Come out and join our community and discover what God has for you as we study the word, praise and worship and experience fun and exciting ways to serve our Lord, Jesus Christ as we serve others.
